Christian Klacko : August 24, 2011 6:00 pm : news

Black Belt Leaders & Champions are driven to succeed and achieve excellence.
Becoming a Black Belt Leader & Champion is a daily process of learning, training, thinking and living
a positive and productive life, taking action everyday to become a better person that leads to a better life.
It’s all about being your best and always striving to get better.

The journey to Black Belt & beyond is an exciting and enjoyable step by step process of self discovery and
self development. It’s not about the belt, rank, or position, it’s the achievement and what the belt represents.
It represents living by a higher standard and striving for excellence in everything you do. Whether it is in the
Dojang, in your home, at school, or community, it’s about being all you can be. Earning a Black Belt is looked
at worldwide as a symbol of personal excellence and achievement of a higher self. The goal itself creates an
energy and internal drive that brings out the best in everyone that sets their sights on the completion of this
very worthwhile objective. It is intended to be a challenging goal that forces you to grow and improve in well
rounded manner. It challenges your skill, will and conditioning, and has a dramatic impact on your mental, physical
and emotional fitness.

Black Belt Leaders & Champions are driven to succeed and achieve excellence in all areas of their life.
Never allowing or accepting mediocrity, always striving to improve and grow to the next level and there is
always a next level.

Maximize!

Christian Klacko : July 15, 2011 6:00 pm : news

Studies on human potential show that most people are performing at a fraction of their true potential. Some say 5%, others 10% at best. Either way, it means that we all have a tremendous opportunity to improve ourselves and enjoy even greater levels of success and achievement. If you set a goal to improve your flexibility, there are many ways you can make it happen.

The same is true if you wanted to improve your cardiovascular fitness and increase your overall strength and endurance. Through experience of teaching and training thousands of students over the past 34+ years, we know these are very attainable goals. The key is to learn to maximize the time and effort you are currently dedicating to each of these areas. Once you’ve committed mentally that you can and will give more, you must take immediate action to increase the return on your investment.

Learning to better maximize your training at the dojang, will have a very powerful and positive impact on everything you do outside of the dojang as well. What are some ways you could better maximize your time?
Here’s my short list:

  1. Identify areas for improvement (mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, financially, etc…)
  2. Set empowering goals that are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time Bound)
  3. Know your body clock (are you a morning person or a night person?)
  4. Take massive action with a purpose (this helps combat FUDS which are Fears, Uncertainty, Doubt,
and that Silly little voice in your head)
  5. Review your progress and adjust as needed (you need to know your gap)

In order to get a better bang-for-your buck with one of your most valued resources, start applying the maximize principle to everything you do and enjoy the benefits of positive growth and improvement.

The Habit of Commitment

Christian Klacko : May 27, 2011 6:00 pm : news

Black Belt Leaders & Champions have something called a Non-Quitting Spirit. They have perseverance plus, also referred to as the “Habit of Commitment”. Champions commit to the completion of worthy goals. Anytime you set your sights on a worthwhile goal, such as becoming more than you are today, it is important to stay the course. Stick to it until you do it!

There are valuable life lessons learned when you overcome obstacles. For example, life’s greatest prizes often come to those who persevere the longest. All Black Belt Leaders & Champions encounter obstacles, challenges and setbacks on the path to self-mastery. The best get better by overcoming anything that stands between them and the successful achievement of their goal. Every time you learn to overcome an obstacle or a setback, or you solve a problem or challenge, you become stronger mentally, physically, and spiritually. You reinforce the habit of commitment.

If you’re going to develop life-long habits, it’s in your best interest to develop “Habits of Excellence” that will best serve you and those you care about. Remember, good habits are hard to form but easy to live with.

The opposite of this would be the habit of quitting or giving up. The truth is that bad habits are easy to form but hard to live with. Here’s another truth: winners never quit and quitters never win! Many people are great at starting something, but only a peak performance sees things through to completion. Unfortunately, far too many people stop as quickly as they start. So, they develop the habit of start/stop/start/stop. This is called the “Habit of Mediocrity” or playing the blame game. These are the people that never follow through to completion, and seem to always find an excuse or way to blame someone else for their failures in life.
